The German Foreign Ministry, on Monday, called on the Israeli occupation to withdraw its plan to build new settlement units in occupied East Jerusalem.
In a statement, the German Foreign Ministry expressed its concern about the occupation’s announcement of its plan to build new settlement units in the “Givat Hamatos” settlement in Jerusalem. The Ministry described the plan as a “wrong step”.
It emphasized that building settlements in the occupied lands contravenes international law and undermines the possibility of reaching a negotiated two-state solution. The Ministry further demanded that the occupation halt the construction of new settlements, and that the Israeli occupation reaffirms its commitment to the two-state solution and supporting this with practical measures.
