The Association of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds will hold its second conference on Dec 14 and 15 in Istanbul for two consecutive days under the title of “Al-Quds is the eternal capital of Palestine”, in presence of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and under the patronage of the Speaker of Turkey’s Parliament Ben Ali Yildirim with participation of more than 500 deputies representing 80 countries around the world.
The opening ceremony will include several speeches, most notably the speech of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a speech by the Palestinian Legislative Council, a speech by the Speaker of Turkey’s Parliament, and a speech by the head of “Parliamentarians for Al-Quds” to highlight the current situation in Al-Quds city.
The inaugural conference of the Association of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds took place on October 15, 2015, in presence of some 130 parliamentarians from nearly 30 countries. Shiekh Hamid Al-Ahmar was elected as the Head of the Association.
However, the first day of the conference will include a platform for the parliamentarians to emphasize their positions in support of the Palestinian cause especially of the occupied Jerusalem.
The second day will include a series of seminars on the role and importance of local legislation in the protection of occupied Jerusalem, the role of international and regional parliamentary forums in supporting the Palestinian cause. A special session of the regional parliamentary links will be hold with a view to networking between regional parliaments, to evaluate its performance over the past year and to develop future plans.
Hamid Al-Ahmar, head of the Association of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds, pointed out that the preparations for the second conference of the Association were completed with the arrival of the participated delegations to Istanbul. He added that this session of the Association is the most important to face the liquidation projects of the Palestinian cause and the Judaization of Jerusalem, in addition to the challenges facing the occupied Jerusalem after the unjust American decisions towards the city.
The Association held its first conference under the title of “Jerusalem and the challenges of the phase” in Istanbul at the end of November 2016, in presence of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the sponsorship of the former Turkey’s Parliament speaker Ismael Kahraman with participation of deputies from various Arab and Islamic countries and international legal figures.
The Association of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds is the first parliamentary platform to activate and coordinate the efforts of parliamentarians from all countries to consult, cooperate in support of Jerusalem and Palestine, develop mechanisms of parliamentary action supporting Palestine and diversify its means to contribute to achieving these goals.
