Friday December 14, 2018 – Istanbul

The second conference of the Association of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds was held in Istanbul on Friday with the participation of more than 500 parliamentarians from 80 countries around the world and in the presence of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and heads of Arab and Islamic parliamentary councils.

Erdogan: Israel is carrying out a cultural genocide in Jerusalem

In his speech, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that “the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem is a national issue for Turkey. This conference, which is held under the title of “Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine”, deserves all the appreciation and gratitude, and I hope that your consultations and contacts are successful.”

“I pay tribute to the Palestinian heroes who are facing the occupation with bare hands, as well as salutes to the oppressed people of Gaza, who live in spite of injustice, and to the Palestinian refugees who have persisted for 70 years without forgetting their homeland”, he added.

The Turkish president paid tribute to the martyrs of the Palestinian people who passed away by the Israeli occupation fire, recalling the activist Rachel Corrie, who was killed by the “Israeli” bulldozers.

“I know that you do not offer personal support, but you reveal the love and solidarity of millions around the world with Jerusalem, and that such events are of great importance. I want to reiterate that we will continue supporting strongly our Palestinian brothers and sisters against the injustice” President Erdogan said

“The issue of Palestine and Jerusalem is the issue of one billion seven hundred million Muslims around the world. It is our common destiny. Jerusalem is a gift to us from the prophets of God. We cannot distinguish between Jerusalem, Istanbul, Cairo, Medina and Mecca. Jerusalem is a red line for us. The defense of Jerusalem is a defense of humanity as a whole, and a defense of peace, justice and independence”, President Erdogan said.

President Erdogan praised the support provided by the conference of parliamentarians for Al-Quds in protecting Jerusalem and its people, pointing out that the Israeli occupation seeks to remove the Islamic monuments in the city, stressing out that the occupation will not be able to do so.

“Israel is carrying out a cultural genocide in Jerusalem, and if you think that you will be able to do so through the transfer of embassies, you are wrong. The support of the UN member states to “Israel” is the most important reason that encourages “Israel”. That is why I always say that the world is more than five” he pointed out.

President Erdogan spoke about the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which is headed by Turkey, in facing President Trump’s decision on the city of Jerusalem saying: “2018 witnessed intensive attacks against Jerusalem and the United States was not committed to the international law. The transfer of the embassy is a provocative step. We, as the Chairman of the Session of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, held an extraordinary summit where historic decisions have been made in which the Muslims’ concern for Jerusalem was emphasized at the highest levels”.

“We will use all our resources to defend the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem, and the awareness of Muslims will reach its goal despite of the injustice. That will not prevent the liberation of Jerusalem and Muslims” he said.

Al-Ahmar: We warn against Jerusalem being Judaized and expelling its residents

Hamid Al-Ahmar, Head of the Parliamentarians for Al-Quds, pointed out that the Association of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds is a global parliamentary institution that brings together a group of parliamentarians. “Those parliamentarians are here to defend their people against the Zionist occupation” Al-Ahmar said. He also praised the efforts exerted by Turkey and its President in the establishment and consolidation of the Association, stressing the importance of this role in the work of the Association and its activities and in supporting the Palestinian cause and the city of Jerusalem in the face of violations and conspiracies.

Khrisheh: Trump’s Declaration on Jerusalem is an extension of the Balfour Declaration

Dr. Hassan Khrisheh, Second Deputy Chairman of the Palestinian Legislative Council, stated that “A year passed since Trump’s Declaration, which came as an extension of the Balfour Declaration. A year later, the American administration still defied the Arab and Islamic will by insisting on recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the occupation and transferring their embassy to it”.

Nabati: We meet today for Jerusalem and must not remain without its owner

MP Noureddine Nabati, Chairman of the Committee of Palestine in the Turkish Parliamentary Council, pointed out the importance of the conference, thanking the Presidency of the current and previous Turkey’s Parliament for its role in the success of the second conference of the Association.

In the Turkey’s Parliament speech, he said: “We feel with our brothers in Jerusalem and we see their tragedies and pain, and we are going with them through all this pain”.

He added: “We swear to the victory of Jerusalem, and we also organized this conference.

Al-Ahmad: We came here to do our duty towards Jerusalem and its people

About the current situation of Jerusalem, Azzam Al Ahmad, MP in the Palestinian Legislative Council, said: “Jerusalem is facing the most difficult circumstances of all forms. The occupation is trying to Judaize the city and desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque, but the people of Jerusalem are facing them.”

In his message to the conference participants, Al-Ahmad said: “We promise you as the children of Palestine have promised you for more than 100 years that the struggle is ongoing. We continue to say no to the occupation. We want our state to be fully sovereign”.

Zulkifl: Indonesian people reject the Judaization of Jerusalem and support the rights of the Palestinians

Dr. Zulkafel Hassan, Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, said:” Indonesian people reject strongly the colonialism and never accept it. They went through this experience before”. “For a period of time, freedom was a dream for us. We got Independence and our full freedom by having faith and trust in God, and with the help and support of friends and Muslims” he added. “We support the Palestinian people in their legitimate demands standing side by side with them, so we must fight for Palestinian rights,” he said.

The inaugural conference of the Association of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds took place on October 15, 2015, in presence of some 130 parliamentarians from nearly 30 countries.

The Association held its first conference under the slogan “Jerusalem and the challenges of the phase” in Istanbul at the end of November 2016, in presence of President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, sponsored by the former Turkey’s Parliament Speaker Ismael Kahraman and with the participation of parliamentarians from various Arab and Islamic countries and international legal personalities.
