The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds (LP4Q) denounces the arrest of two representatives of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), Ahmed Atoun and Abdel Jaber Faqha by the Israeli occupation on Wednesday 26/8/2020.
LP4Q notes that the occupation has arrested Palestinian representatives since 2006, and has to date arrested nearly a third of PLC members.
LP4Q observes that the occupation withdrew MP Atoun’s Jerusalemite ID card, deported him from his hometown in Jerusalem in 2010, and has repeatedly arrested him since his election as a PLC member in 2006.
LP4Q calls on its members and supporters to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to abide by its legal obligations, and to stop violating the rights of the representatives of the Palestinian people, and the rights of its political and community leaders, and to immediately release all PLC members.
